GTA4 is a game i really like until it comes to chase segments.  unless driving on the PC is very different, i'm with Matt in that i just can't get comfortable enough with it in the game.  which is a shame, because there's a lot to like.

i've done a few chase sequences now and i actually like it. the dude you have to chase from the chinatown arcade was a bit tricky at times but i eventually ran him down. trying to shoot and drive is mostly aggravating.

Which is as it should be, really (although the counterpoint is that if you make driving and shooting appropriately realistically difficult, maybe you shouldn't require the player to do a lot of it).

Generally I find that trying to draw a bead on them while actually chasing them is not worth it and your time is better spent concentrating entirely on driving until you can get them pinned against the scenery/they plow into it their own fool self, at which point you should unload everything you have while they fuck around in reverse.

or drive them off an overpass, which was funny as hell.

also had a street race where three of the folks crashed into the gas station, which exploded. this apparently cancels out a street race, fyi.

played a bit of xenogears over the weekend and today, and it feels ,in some ways, like FF7. it does a lot of things better and some worse, story and style wise.

i cant help but imagine an alternate history where XG caught on instead of FF7, where dozens of fat highschool kids desired ponytails like fei instead of spiky cloud hair. oh wait, lots of fat kids had ponytails when i was in highschool, nevermind.

dear gta4: you just had to try and shoehorn "ha ha he's gay!" in there? really? yeeeesh.

supposedly the ballad of gay tony is add on is very good. it's coming to pc so in a year or so i'll give the steam sale a try.

Thexder Neo on PS3 is bloody aces. It's basically a shinier version of the PSP game, but this one also has the original Thexder packaged with it.

Also been playing MAG, bit underwhelmed really.

Tonight was my third attempt at playing Bayonetta, and for the third time in the row I simply had to turn off the console during the overly long and boring opening cut scene. I'm having a hard time putting my finger on why the game irritates the shit out of me so much. Though near the top would be how it tries way too God damn hard to be funky and cool and wacky and irreverent.

Well, at least I can save myself $50 since I don't have to buy this game. The demo doesn't even run. It locks up when trying to connect to the multiplayer demo. Completely locks up, can't even alt tab have to ctrl alt delete style. This does not bode well for the final code.

i heard it blows dead bears anyway.

final note to gta4: a series of increasingly annoying obstacles does not a good finale make.

Yeah, I never finished the final missions because like many previous GTAs, they seemed to exist to be entirely ridiculous.

I can't believe you beat it so fast. As far as I can tell I'm still nowhere near the end. Too much fun stuff to do that isn't missions.

i found this to be a lot easier than most gta games. it's the first i ever finished. if i get a chance, as per scratch's recommendation, i'll get gta3.
