i just a-b'd that shit:
2's interface is legions ahead of 1 1 does have an odd kind of character that's somewhat endearing 2 is a lot faster, if more crowded 2 having skills does add a bit more strategy war cries are still lame

Yeah, the interface is way nicer and the game is a lot prettier. Having the skills and minions and such mean that there's more of a higher-level strategy to the game as well, although that mainly only comes out in playing through multiple difficulty levels or in PvP.
It's a close call and as I said before, I've played the second one a lot more, mainly because it's far easier to set up online/LAN games. I like that in the original, finding good items and going up levels feels more significant as there isn't so much of everything. It's a "feel" thing for the most part, to be an indie-style ass.

naw, i can totally see that.
the first is more personable and unique looking, if uniquely a bit gross. and definitely feels more rogue-y.

i can't stop playing Muramasa.
i beat the girl's scenario and i'm in the process of the (more difficult) dude's quest.
and then apparently when i beat it with both characters there's more stages and multiple endings
shiiiiit
also, i want ODST but lack the funds for it. will everyone still be playing in 3 weeks?

Return some of those jRPGs and get credit to buy ODST. We need you for Firefight. I'm gonna go grab my copy in about an hour at WIZARD ELECTROLAND.

man, even if i traded in 30 of those jrpgs, i'd still need $45 for ODST.
i'll get it soon!
maybe sooner if i can't control myself....

This new soundtrack is really nice. Without anything going on in the city, it doesn't feel like the Halo 2 New Mombassa teaser like I was kind of hoping. The city actually all feels very samey, which also helps make this feel even more like Halo 1. It actually so much like Halo 1 that I was having a really hard time using the right bumper to reload instead of the x button.
I should probably just put this in the Halo thread.

Batman Arkum Asylum is some goty material. I'm really enjoying it. Beyond the combat being excellent, the dialogue and story being the quality you would expect from a feature length animation, and the nice graphics, there is some interesting stuff going on with the parallels that are drawn between the Joker & Riddler and the game designers. The most interesting moment was when I happened into an area I wasn't compelled to go to, the visitor center, and inside was a Joker mannequin with a television for a head through which the Joker was talking to Batman. He was asking about who is "the man behind the mask," which of course is a standard question for the Joker, but it was interesting that the view was also switched to a first person view here.
I should note that there is a high score mode where you can play through certain encounters for time and/or score runs. Some of them are things like beat up 20 guys, or take out six armed men as quickly as possible. The game is fun enough that this is the sort of stuff you will be able to enjoy doing after you've played though the entire game.

The downloadable content, particularly some of the more complicated stealth boards are excellent as well.
They benefited greatly from having Paul Dini do the writing for it and getting three of the core voice actors from the DC animated shows for the game.
