yeah I guess it was a wasted opportunity. some people haven't given up hope that something dark potentially lurks in the game but, eh.

what?  that this would somehow tie in MMX, you mean?  yea, i don't think "X" was ever actually supposed to mean "10," but at this point i'd prefer they delay the tie-in game for as long as possible, considering that MMZX isn't as good as MMZ or X and there are no other halfway decent classic-style MM games on the horizon.

so uh, cheers to some new MM!

If MMZX is the one that I played a bit of on the DS, then I think it's better than X.

Yeah, what's wrong with XZ?

Also, X is a game I only like in concept alone. For whatever reason it bored me to tears till part 4, which I honestly believe was the best one. At least X1 had an excellent soundtrack (not as good as X4's but still)... can't even remember anything about X2 and X3.

Not to change the subject, but I've been looking EVERYWHERE for that first X screenshot that appeared in magazines at the time, with the blue, blue skies that was never used in the final game. I did get a whole crate of old Game Fans from my pal Jason, so may as well just dig into those and scan it myself.

yeah, I doesn't bother me personally (I thought Mega Man 9 was great fun), although it's hard to deny the appeal of a hypothetical game that would bridge the gap, since such a game would be quite subversive on premise alone. Of course, I don't hold my breath, because it will never happen!

Dave:  i dunno, ZX bothers me because it's too flat feeling, story and appearance wise.  on top of this, the way the worlds link together was kind of unintuitive and annoying.  this is fixed quite a bit in ZX Advent, but i still think it plays like a poor/animu version of Mega Man Zero.

Matt:  i have a magazine scan of that first X screenshot in some copy of EGM at my parents' house.  i'll try to see if i can look for it today after work.

as for the X series in general, i dunno what to say about it really.  i mean, it plays totally different from the Classic series, but it's a difficult series in other ways, especially in X2 and X3.  i think X4 is a fabulous game, but it's kind of easy.

i thought X8 was a lot of fun (especially after X7), but apparently i'm the only one who thinks so.

B Coma:  yea, i agree that as something of a Mega Man fanboy, i would love to play a game that bridges everything together, but i get the feeling that the Classic series is the only MM game Inafune is directly working on these days, so he probably won't want to kill it off any time soon.

plus, it would just be so...weird.  i mean, everything in that series is so damned cute.  but i guess that'd be what makes it interesting.
