How did I not hear about this? Apparently it was confirmed back in December, but the last I heard about it was hopeful rumors months ago.

March 17th, 1080p, 60fps, 8 players online

I just hope the controls aren't all wonky.

How could the controls be messed up? Then again... I can't even think about either that game or GoldenEye (glad to see some of its maps make it over to the HD release btw) without imaging a N64 controller in my hand. Guess its all muscle memory. Anyhow, guess the worst that can happen is that it controls like a regular FPS?

No, I want regular FPS controls, but that's not how the game was designed. So I'm worried about things getting messed up in the translation. If they can somehow make it control the old way (basically so that you don't look up and down) and make it comfortable, that would be awesome.

I think I was one of the few humans who enjoyed PD0, so if the controls are at least like that I'll be happy.

i can't really see how this game could be much more than a nostalgia trip at this point

BUT

i wish the laptop gun idea was used more often

Perfect Dark had plenty going on that never got reused in other games, and having them altogether in one game is awesome. Camera guided rockets, sentry guns, Eraser style railgun, guns that turn into proximity mines, tranquilizer/disorientation darts, a completely ridiculous alien chaingun, etc. It's such a gadget game, it's more Bond than Goldeneye.

Yeah, it is nostalgic because it was the first console based deathmatch game that was so completely customizable, and it had great levels both original and from Goldeneye, but it has enough going for it that I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Totally psyched.

Controls are just as wonky as they ever were. They have "Halo" styled controls, but unfortunately no green thumb option, but it's no big deal as melee isn't such a big deal in this game. I forgot how they made the zoomed in aiming so damn sensitive.

So what's the verdict? Sorry I couldn't join you guys, but Katie wanted to play some Twilight Princess instead, lol.

Also, I had work to do, but anyway... just tried buying it, but don't have enough points, and tried getting some more, but can't! Keep getting some stupid error. But I'm downloading the demo anyway, at least that still works...

i forgot there's a demo.  i'll have to try it out and see what i think.  this game isn't really all that high on my priority list as of right now, but maybe some deathmatches could convince me otherwise.

Can you play online with the demo? I mean, the bots aren't all that fun to play with if that's what you're limited to. It's not a really great game, it's full of problems that I guess FPS games just hadn't worked out yet. For instance, you spawn without a weapon, but it often will spawn you right next to someone, BUT you can disarm people when you're unarmed which is pretty awesome, but difficult to do unless you get the jump on someone.

Good thing I didn't blindly purchase the game; tried the demo out and found myself super dizzy within 5 minutes. Sorry, gonna have to pass.

... Yes, I could also mess with the settings, but I'm also super poor right now too.

Apparently you can play the demo online?! I was playing with Joe for a bit before he ran off.
