Simply hit the shumps thread to see that question asked and somewhat answered. And this is perhaps more appropriate for over there, but going by the agreed upon reasons why Cave has traditionally gone homeland only, I can totally see Espgaluda 2 not being made region free. And that totally sucks.

I too believe that region protection completely is a stupid idea, unless they're getting a massive payday from Aksys, which I somehow doubt.

well, hey, it's nice that they're bringing it over at all.  maybe this will be the start of a new trend.  but...maybe not?

Aksys seems to know how to release Japanese games fairly well, though.  at least, they seem better at it than Ubisoft by 100 miles.  what a fucking joke that release of Senko no Ronde was.  and the total lack of a marketing campaign for No More Heroes 2 is laughable.  it's like they don't even want money.  how can companies, especially publishing companies, not realize how much of a market there is for "weird Japanese" in the US?

anyway, considering how well Aksys did with Blazblue, i have faith that they might do Deathsmiles some justice, so long as they price it reasonably to appease the "lol this isn't HD" crowd.

and if they actually print a DVD that has color then it would actually be an improvement over Cave's recent game-case productions.

Actually, ranting on kotakus readers is fine.   I remember that cory arcangel moment.   I dont think destructoid is too different.   How do different communities still take hold on generic sites? And what do sites do to engender their specific communities i.e. howv did kotaku get such a shitty pile? What about the cory arcangel article / article failed its readers?
