Title: I'm a hermit Post by: dmauro on July 29, 2009, 12:34:59 PM Now that I don't have to leave the house, I just don't. I honestly haven't left the apartment since Sunday (at least I think I went out of the house on Sunday). Don't worry, I'm showering and eating proper food, so it's not like I'm a stinking pile in front of the computer surrounded by empty ramen containers. It's just nice to sit in the house and oscillate between getting stuff done and playing video games or reading.
BUT, I should get out of the house and experience the wider world. Anyone want to do something fun tonight? I've no ideas, maybe go into the city. I still have my accidentally activated monthly card that I need to get some use out of. Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: FortNinety on July 29, 2009, 02:09:57 PM I'm actually dealing with the same issue at the moment. Hence why I'm seriously thinking of getting a laptop, since all I do is sit at my computer desk all day and wait for friends who have real jobs to get out of theirs. I could do that same while in the park... kinda. Okay, not really.
As for hanging out, I was actually gonna ask you and Joe if you wanted to make an impromptu visit to Cone Island this week, but even doing stuff tonight seems a bit dubious with those dark storm clouds coming in. Sorry man. Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: dmauro on July 29, 2009, 02:59:48 PM Yeah it just started raining, so tonight probably isn't the best night to break my hermit streak. I'm not too into Coney Island though. It's just not my kind of place.
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: isfet on July 29, 2009, 11:33:41 PM I went to the flea market at coney island a few weeks ago. It's actually got some interesting stuff.
but anyway, I'm up for stuff Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: pilot on July 30, 2009, 09:55:09 AM I feel like a work hermit and I want to go out more too.
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: dmauro on July 30, 2009, 12:05:34 PM So it's nice out today (thought a little warm and muggy), anything happening? Oh, and I did end up going out yesterday to make a quick run to the grocery store.
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: FortNinety on July 30, 2009, 12:13:15 PM Isn't dongle coming to town today? Though I asked what time exactly and never got a response. Maybe he's already on his way?
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: FortNinety on July 31, 2009, 02:55:54 PM Well dongle was in town for like 20 seconds, but I think he'll be back soon for a proper weekend visit (he's actually on his way to DC I believe), so till then...
Dave, was gonna ask what you were up to tonight, but apparently there's this huge storm on it's way. Damn. :( Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: isfet on July 31, 2009, 11:00:30 PM yea, i had planned to do some stuff tonight, but this weather (and a bad restaurant experience a little earlier) have basically trapped me in here for the night.
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: dhex on July 31, 2009, 11:08:50 PM so that mexican place didn't work out, then?
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: FortNinety on July 31, 2009, 11:36:54 PM I must say Joe, I have enjoyed your change of attitude towards the mouse via Twitter. Yes, all God's creatures are innocent and cuddly, but it's fucking vermin and should be treated as such.
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: isfet on July 31, 2009, 11:42:03 PM so that mexican place didn't work out, then? actually i didn't try that place tonight. we wanted to go to a more sit-down-and-eat type restaurant (as opposed to a whole-in-the-wall taqueria) so we tried an Indian Chinese place near Queens Plaza. now, as i think i've stated in the past, i LOOOOVE Indian Chinese food. it's probably one of my favorite things ever. that said, this place was mildly atrocious and the waiter didn't even bother bringing us water. hey i still think the mouse is cute but he's being a fucking asshole and seems to consciously be taunting me now. Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: dmauro on August 01, 2009, 01:29:26 PM I just ended up staying in last night and learning how to get Flash to play with RSS feeds.
Pics from when I caught a little mouse (we had an entire family) in a sticky trap and had to clean the oil off it that I used to neutralize the sticky trap. I set him loose on Pratt campus where the Pratt cats probably ate him. I'd b willing to try it more now.
Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: dmauro on August 04, 2009, 10:02:30 AM Vegetable oil. It will say what to do on the sticky trap instructions.
I got out of the house this weekend. Out of the city even. We rafted down the Delaware Water Gap on Sunday, then did some car camping and yesterday hiked up to a waterfall where there was a rope swing and a great 30 foot jump into the water. I just got back in last night which is why I didn't get your call, Joe. Title: Re: I'm a hermit Post by: isfet on August 04, 2009, 11:14:52 AM yea i figured you were probably still away.
no worries! i still want to school you in Rage of the Dragons |
