Title: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on July 24, 2009, 12:28:47 PM This Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick looks pretty hot...
http://www.capcom-unity.com/grant008/blog/2009/07/23/tatsunoko_vs_capcomua__new_mc_joystick_at_comiccon ... Too bad it's, you know, kinda pointless. Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on August 06, 2009, 08:48:51 AM Somewhat interested in picking this up...

Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on August 06, 2009, 10:53:53 PM Guess this as good a place and time to bring up the fact that I'm interested in getting an arcade stick. I guess a HRAP2 is my best bet? Obviously, I want it for all the current and upcoming games for the 360, but there's still plenty of PS2 games that I'd want it for (like the upcoming PS2 release of Melty Blood 2).
How much you will to sell yours for? And how much do they cost in general? I think I saw one in Chinatown, new, for $100. That a good deal? Though I'd much rather have a smaller, more personalized stick like your DoDonPach one. Want some extra money Dave? Build me one, just like yours, but with Hermione! Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: dmauro on August 07, 2009, 12:24:54 AM Haha, a Hermoine stick. Katie would never forgive me. $100 in chinatown isn't so bad since you would be saving on shipping, but if you want mine used, you could get it for less. It's not a good bet for the 360 though since the converters suck. There's really no good solution for both 360 and other systems.

Dave, can you make two, and have the second feature Clive Owen on it? Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: dmauro on August 07, 2009, 02:31:10 PM lol Aww, his and hers creepy celebrity joysticks. It would make fighting game matches between you two just a little more interesting.Dave, can you make two, and have the second feature Clive Owen on it? Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on August 08, 2009, 04:12:35 PM Alright, back to the key issue at hand: get a stick for the PS2 or 360?
If I got one for the 360, it would be used towards... Street Fighter 4 Soul Calibur 4 (lol, I know) Tekken 6 Virtua Fighter 5 BlazBlue (I guess) But for the PS2, I've got... Street Fighter 3 Street Fighter Alpha (all of them) Darkstalkers (all of them) Sengoku Basara KOF XI and all the other KOFs for the system Arcana Heart Melty Blood 1 & 2 that wacky Fist of the Northstar fighter from Sega Tekken 5 Virtua Fighter 2 Virtua Fighter 4 and a bunch of shumps Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: dmauro on August 09, 2009, 12:29:31 PM $140, free shipping:

Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: loopback on August 11, 2009, 02:46:51 PM If I may briefly threadjack, is $60 a good price for this, I assume?

Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: drozdal on August 11, 2009, 04:09:17 PM Yep $59.99, this looks like cheaper hori ex2 arcade stick without branded parts. A lot of people complained that they tend to "stick" in random direction for about half a second from time to time.
Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: loopback on August 11, 2009, 04:32:31 PM Yeah a few minutes after I posted that I Googled That For Me and saw that I had the stick colors wrong in my head about which one was the pricey nice one and which one was the cheap one.
edited to add: I haven't liked fighting games in a long time, but lately I've been playing SF3:Third Strike (I think that's the name) on the MAME cabinet at work, and starting to get back into it. Which leads, naturally enough, to thinking about getting a stick for further experiments in getting my ass handed to me. Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: drozdal on August 11, 2009, 05:13:22 PM PS3 version of Hori Sticks should work with PC's as soon as you plug them in, for 360 - you most likely will need either driver for default 360 wired controller or third party one (but I'm not sure if that would even work).
For PC gaming I'm using old Dreamcast Agatec arcade stick (with converter), what really sucks is that they no longer manufacture DC > PS2 and DC > Old XBOX converters. Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: ryan on August 12, 2009, 06:46:10 PM Still can't find a tournament edition stick. Last time I checked, the guy offered me the smaller one, then I told him no and explained how I had a paid preorder for a TE and waited over a month and a half for it before canceling. "Oh, you should have waited! You would've definitely got one. We sold yours, I'm sure." Thanks for that bit of advice - 'Wait forever and you'll probably get it!'
Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on November 27, 2009, 06:47:00 PM This topic again! Sorry to keep asking the same basic questions over and over again; I recall the last version of this thread having all the answers I ever needed.
So aside from a HRAP2, what other options do I have for the PS2? And they work just fine with the PS2 to 360 convertors, right Dave? For whatever reason, I can't get my Dual Shock to operate. And once again, here we have the Arcana Heart 2 stick by Hori... http://www.videogamesnewyork.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23&products_id=1048 ... In all seriousness, is it actually any good? And that HRAP2 that you offered to sell Dave, did you modify yours with other company's components? So which is better, Seimitsu or Sanwa parts? Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: dmauro on November 27, 2009, 11:37:46 PM I have a stock HRAP2 (Sanwa stick with Hori buttons) and a modded HRAP2 (Seimitsu stick with Sanwa buttons). I prefer a Seimitsu stick, but some people prefer Sanwa, especially since you can add an octagonal gate (I have one for the stock stick). I prefer Seimitsu because it has less throw and dead space, but I prefer Sanwa buttons because they don't give any resistance the way Seimitsu buttons do. Check out what you would pay for used HRAP2's and I'll cut you a deal if you'd like.
Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on December 20, 2009, 09:22:51 PM Well, as some folks know, I am now the proud owner of Dave's arcade sticks, thanks to Katie (they were Xmas gifts). And Dave, I think you mentioned that the Seimitsu would do me better in Pac Man: CE, but it's proven to be the total opposite.
Maybe if the square-shaped gate was turned 45 degrees so it formed a diamond, but otherwise, I have a hard time staying in neutral position and end up making turns I did not intend. Meanwhile, even though I'm still not totally used to the Sanwa, it's really awesome, even if I haven't come close to reaching my high score (still stuck around 280,000). My main problem is that evading ghosts is so much easier to pull off, I end up losing sight of the goal and waste valuable time! Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on January 05, 2010, 12:26:45 PM The Tatsunoko vs Capcom sticks that myself, Dave, and Joe got to test drive a few months back is finally available for pre-order...

part of me doesn't care if i have a stick for the Wii part of me also wonders if Tatsunoko will have online play. somehow i remember hearing they added it? Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on January 05, 2010, 12:48:37 PM If it had a GameCube intereface as opposed to attaching to the Wiimote, it would almost be a done death.
Online play has not been formally announced I think, but the producer has some big announcement coming up, so I'd imagine that is it. Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on January 05, 2010, 12:58:35 PM Semi-related, and totally up your alley Joe (maybe yours too Mike)...

The ones I have were very cheap and work without any problems.
Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on January 05, 2010, 03:12:19 PM Yeah, PSone/PS2 truly is the gold standard and it's awesome. Are there any PS2 to Saturn and Dreamcasts ones available? I'd have to assume.
Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: dmauro on January 05, 2010, 04:47:51 PM I wouldn't count on them going back to Saturn, but definitely Dreamcast. Anything I have in the cabs I have PS2 adapters for since that's essentially what I've turned the cabinets' controls into.
Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: isfet on January 06, 2010, 07:19:14 AM well, i don't have any PS2 sticks. i guess i'll only really invest in something if there's online multiplayer and it isn't horribly laggy. the Wii's online multiplayer capabilities have always left me wanting.
Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on January 06, 2010, 12:11:39 PM Well it was recently revealed that there is actually a new character on the way...
http://www.siliconera.com/2010/01/05/yatterman-no-2-confirmed-for-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ultimate-all-stars/ ... So perhaps that was the big news, and not online play? Though I could have sworn that it was still coming. Title: Re: Fighting Sticks And Other Methods Of Game Control Post by: FortNinety on January 10, 2010, 01:50:54 PM Back to adapters, are these new?
