I'm also listening to "The Shadow out of Tim" by Darkest of the Hillside Thickets for all my lovecraft-themed garage-rock needs. And there's always The Residents. They're pretty much amazing. It's 2 hours of great stuff that seems to be a pretty natural progression from Ys. See if you can find "In California" online to listen to. So good...

this is one of the best things i've heard in a while. (link should still be up) i haven't heard all of the new newsom yet, but i didn't care for y's. my initial impression of the new one is this linda ronstadt thing doesn't really do it for me, but it is much better than the beach boys prog of y's. my other initial impression is whose idea over at drag city was it to tart her up?
