“me0wtr0n wins.” – Phil Fish

by Matthew Edward Hawkins

In this post:
1. Katie’s birthday party!
2. Yo, I’m guest bloggin’, yo.
3. And GOTY 2010, without a doubt.

So how was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty rad, thank you very much.

Great Job!

As expected, Katie‘s birthday bash this past Saturday night was a huge success! Many fine folks stopped by to eat, drink, dance, and be merry. And of course, many pics were taken, but I’ll let Katie share the visuals on her end, since it was her party after-all. Though I can’t help but share just one, of Dave Mauro near the end of the night, which pretty tells the entire night in one fell swoop…

Anyhow, other highlights include…

- Me explaining to everyone my idea for a doll based upon Katie’s virtual self on the Wii. First off, I’m surprised that no one out there doesn’t do this already, like on Etsy. Think of all the money that could be made! Anyhow, I just think it would be super cute to see Katie curl up with a small, pint-sized version of herself! Whereas everyone else (in particular Hilary) thought it was just plain creepy. At least Dave Roman agreed with me!

- Also explaining to Colleen and Jeremiah the idea Katie and I have to send American’s Home Video a taped episode of America’s Home Video. Think about it; that’s HILARIOUS.

- Watching out of the corner of my eye during a good portion of the evening Hilary, June, and Raina, as they messed around with my painstakingly arranged and constructed assortment of figures. Thankfully, most of my animu girls were spared any dire mistreatment. Though if I had my naughty ones out in the open (I try to keep the creepiest ones in the bedroom, for just myself and Katie to enjoy privately), there would have been trouble, guaranteed.

- Joe Simko trying to fix the toilet seat. Some people at parties, when they get drunk, they like to tell crazy stories, Joe on the other hand likes to fix things. And the seat as been loose since the day I moved in, it’s just been one of those things that I got used to. Unfortunately, he was not able to tighten whatever bolts, but I still appreciated the effort!

- On a semi-related note, when Mooney confronted myself and Katie with, “Hey, either one of YOUR friends [pointing at Katie] or YOUR friends [pointing at me] doesn’t know how to flush the f*cking toilet and left a ‘nugget’ in there.” That Mooney, always a class act! And you know, that stuff just happens at parties sometimes, plus not everyone knows the particulars of every toilet out there.

- Discovering first-hand what a polarizing effect Tim & Eric‘s Awesome Show Great Job can be with people. And for the record, Katie and I simply cannot get enough of the program. Sorry Mike!

… There are others, but the night as a whole is somewhat of a blur. As for what we did to recover the next day, I introduced Katie to the splendor that is Lawnmower Man on Netflix Instant. I’m honestly shocked the name is not thrown around when folks talk/makes jokes about truly sh*tty movies. How it’s existed this long without becoming a 4chan meme is beyond me.

FORT90 X TINY CARTRIDGE

So this blog is going on a light hiatus for the next two weeks (not that I posted here every single day, though I have been picking up the pace as of late). The reason? I’m guest blogging over at Tiny Cartridge! Before heading off to the Philippines for some much needed vacation time, Eric asked me if I wouldn’t mind filling in (along with a few other fine fellows, including Adam from Attract Mode and Bruno from Eastern Minds), and I obviously (as well as enthusiastically) said yes.

I actually started Saturday so please stop on by! Oh, and maybe I shouldn’t admit to this publicly, but Simon mentioned to me how I was going to be asked to fill Eric’s shoes over at GameSetWatch as well, till Jenn Frank made herself available. Ha!

Though my plate is already quite full; I must also admit that I’ve been somewhat slacking off when it’s come to my duties over at Heavy dot com. So be sure to stop by there as well each day. Plus, I’ve also been somewhat neglecting Mecha Damashii… been meaning to do another installment of Americurry? I will try to change all that in the coming weeks. Though I might try to pop in and post a game review or two (since I seriously owe a bunch of parties some, and I feel like a total ass for dropping the ball on that end)! All this, despite the fact that this week might be just as crazy hectic as the next…

Enter… me0wtr0n!

On my “to do” list for this upcoming week is to figure out what the future holds with Babycastles.

Here’s the deal; there might be a special Jizzmoppa opening thing in early March! Or I might try to move it to early April and make it a duel Jizzmoppa opening/FORT90ZINE #3 launch celebration, since that’s when it should be finally ready (right in time for MoCCA, which is way earlier this year, and don’t even get me started there). There’s pluses and minuses for either or; hey NYC peeps, what do you think? Which would you rather be included to go to?

Anyhow, everyone should stop by this Tuesday because the indie arcade is being updated to take part in the Global Game Jam. GNILLEY, that game that you control by screaming at, and which has been gathering a nice amount of buzz in certain circles, plus five other titles from local game makers, will all be on-hand! As will myself.

Though the real star of the show is the one that everyone can play right here, right now. It’s basically the coolest thing ever. It’s basically… me0wtr0n! For those who might remember, that’s the game in which I somewhat helped with the production by donating 2,000+ animated gifs I had lying around. In the end, only about three or four were utilized, but still!

Oh, and, for those who might be a tad bit confused this might help. Again, it’s a shame that it won’t there at GAMMA 4, but it’s still a very good thing that’s worth helping out. And for those who haven’t heard, those krazy kids that make up Kokoromi need a little assistance to make indie gaming fest a reality, and YOU can help!

Every penny seriously counts, but take a good look at all the cool stuff that one can receive if you donate a certain sum. Though I myself have most of the bonuses being awarded, so instead, gonna ask Phil when he posts my name on the website and at the event if it can be covered in glitter or simply be a slightly bigger font than the other names.
