Police: College student kills intruder with sword

there was a variation on this in greenpoint back in 2003, though that was three guys trying to force their way into a party and who had fired several rounds through a door. dude with gun sticks his arm through door, loses arm, and bleeds to death in stairwell. it was so one-sided that even brooklyn da's were unwilling to charge him.

Man I read about one of these locally, where three guys broke into a drug dealer's house to rob him (someone I went to high school with) and started beating him with a baseball bat while he was sleeping.  He woke up, pushed them back, grabbed his sword and chased all three of them off the property (and then the police used the breaking and entering that his mom phoned in as an opportunity to search the house for contraband; the officers responding brought drug sniffing dogs).  Amazingly, the dealer snuck out of the hospital they took him to, made it on foot back to his home, got back into his own house through a window while they were searching it, and stuffed all his drugs and cash into a backpack.  They caught him running back into the woods.

Anyway how long until samurai swords are classified as a dangerous weapon and we can't own them (I keep one in a closet, which is starting to seem pretty reasonable)?

There's a sword ban in the UK but it is unlikely in the US as a whole.  You may find local laws though that limit access and ownership.

The huge number of shitty-shitty swords out there in the hands of folks I wouldn't trust with safety crayons (you know the big ones that are flat on one side) might prove me wrong in time though.

so it now seems unlikely he was lynched with "fed" carved into his chest; if it finally unravels that this was an autoerotic asphyxiation thing, beyond the stone cold weirdness of that will be the entertainment value in the maddow brigade's attempts to link it to glenn beck.

ioz clued me into this guy, who seems to combine dozens of terrible ideas in a stew i call "simultaneous wrongness".

as if radio could compare with the effects of a few years of mismanaged (from within and without) hyperinflation on a scale that's only been seen in zimbabwe and other places that faced utter economic collapse.
