lol New York Magazine...

Actually, it's not nearly as bad as Time Out New York. As for the actual report and their numbers... it is what it is. Proud to be #37 in more ways than one.

Funny how the top ones are in the red for housing costs. :/

Not surprised to see Greenpoint at #5 (#2 if you were to trim out the too expensive hoods), and actually not terribly surprised to see it beat out by Sunnyside just because if it really is super cheap, I could totally see myself there. And not just because of the $5 movie theater that I usually bike to.

sunnyside is nice.

i liked greenpoint when i lived near there, even if the alcoholism and resulting violence/sadness was kinda rough.

Sunnyside is only slightly more expensive than Ridgewood, from what i've seen, though i suppose i'd have to see what apartments they're advertising.  same with Prospect Heights.  both are areas i've considered moving to in the future, actually.

anyway, i'm kind of happy that neither Bushwick nor Ridgewood appear anywhere on that list.  the perceptions that Bushwick is "too dangerous" and Ridgewood is "in the boonies" kind of allows the neighborhoods to straddle an interesting in between place in terms of what they offer.
