so i saw Chungking Express for the first time last night.

first it starts off with a lovesick cop looking for love in all the wrong places, and then it get really interesting when he finds it in the worst place, in a blonde who murdered some guy and is involved with drug running and indian immigrants. it was a fascinating scenario which i wanted to see further and then.....its all just sort of fucking stops RIGHT THERE. to tell me a story about some cop and some chick at the restaurant who ive found to be so goddamned creepy and annoying, always breaking into the cop's house to clean his place, and playing that fucking "all the leaves are brown" song over and over and over and over and over the fuck over again. if i heard that song one more time i would have killed my mom.

in short, the movie started to tell an interestiing story, and decided to STOP for no goddamned good reason to tell me a story that sucked.

This is more for the New York Asian Film Fest thread, but dmauro and I saw Doman Seman, and can't speak for Dave, but it was seriously the best movie I've seen all year. But it's also one of those flicks that I simply cannot recommend to 98% of the people I know (not to be all film snobbish and all)...

No way, the first one is full of so many laughs. Funniest movie of '09.

you understand not mr. mauro, my wife's circle of cinematic confidants are burned out female phd candidates looking for love in all the wrong celluloid places. they come not to laugh at sparkles, but to sigh longingly.

I'm going to see the new one on Sunday. It looks like they're turning it into a LotR style epic, so I'm thinking it might be a parody of the genre. *fingers crossed*

(the crowd will be 16 year old girls looking for vampire crushes in all the right places)

I have a friend who SWEARS that Juno is one of the best movies ever and it's SUPER heartfelt and VERY funny and blah blah blah... (complete with the deep inhale alongside the hand held over the heart to indicate just how EMOTIONAL it makes you).

I watched about 10-15m of it once in passing and thought it was atrocious, but felt like the nicest thing I could do was to just shut my mouth and let it go. I'm getting (slightly) better at that.

I'd watch it if Ellen Page wasn't preggers in it. Can't handle that shit.

So yeah, I only watch her movies to gawk at her.

Finally saw Human Centipede last night. Was as underwhelming as everyone said it would be. Def not enough poo eating. But hey, at least I get to say I saw it on the big screen!
