Boys, Blobs and Wiis

so i haven't really heard anyone hear talk about the new A Boy and His Blob game that's due out tomorrow. is it on anyone's radar? does anyone care? and since when did it stop being a WiiWare title and become an official disc release?

i dunno, it looks like something i could really get into; like Braid, but fun to play.
admittedly, i never really got into the original game for the NES. everyone i know who owned it when it was out seemed to love the game, but i think it's really one of those "you had to be there" kind of experiences. though maybe one day i'll make the trek through it if i feel like being exceedingly frustrated.
anyway, i think i'll be picking this up tomorrow if possible. at the very least, it looks to be adorable.

I'm halfway interested, but like yourself, I never had the NES original, plus the sequel/remake is by WayForward, whom I find WayOverrated.
As noted in another thread, there's a buy 2, get one free deal at TRU, so that might justify a purchase in the end this week.

thus far, WayForward had essentially made nothing that i've really loved.
but, since i have no particular allegiance to the original game, i think i'm a decent candidate for this. plus, i think, though i may be wrong, that the original creator has been consulted somewhat for this game. it definitely looks gorgeous and it's the type of game that doesn't necessarily need the precision of something like say, Contra.
the best way i could describe why this might work is comparing the NES Metroid to Super Metroid. to me, the latter is far more playable than the former. i find the original unique and interesting on a purely theoretical level, but i don't really enjoy playing it. whereas Super Metroid is just a really good time. if this took the basic ideas of the original game and made them more playable, i think we'd be in for a treat.

I grit my teeth whenever I see this game as I predicted this remake would occur over three years ago -_- Graphics look a little off and apparently there is a sign stating how you should do a puzzle next to every puzzle. What i'm interested in is repeats of the original nes puzzles that are in this game.
In terms of WayForward? They're in the same boat as 5th Cell, nice idea but get lazy with execution.

wait, what?
where are you seeing this/hearing this from? i'm only curious because, oh my lord, that would seem to completely defeat the purpose of the entire fucking game and thus prevent me from making a purchase today.

That sounds ridiculous, but then again, not all surprising.

videos on Youtube seem to suggest that these in-game signs do exist, but i need to know if it's something only in early levels, or if it's something you see right after getting a new jelly bean or something.
because if the entire game has a sign telling you when to use the different abilities, i fail to see why anyone would even play it at all. it makes no sense whatsoever

One last thing about WayForward, though not really related to the discussion at hand: I'm so glad that their sequel to Shantae is finally coming out after all these years, so their fucking fanboys can just shut the hell up already.

picked this game up last Friday, but haven't spent a ton of time with it. i'll say that thus far (i.e. 25 minutes), it's pretty cute and playable. unfortunately, i think there's a lot of potential the game had that, already, doesn't appear to be taken to its fullest. as it is, it'll probably turn out to be an averagely fun game. but it has a "hug" button, so...i mean, that's some points right there.
